Teething - symptoms really stepped up a mark - soon to cut a tooth?

My DS is 4 months, and have shown signs of teething for a long time - drooling, chewing hands etc, but the last three days or so it's suddenly got a lot worse.

Today I have given one dose of Calpol, and one dose of Nurofen (at different times) as well as several teething powders, and some bongela, but still he is a bit grumpy/distressed. I have started wrapping my finger in a muslin and letting him chew, and my goodness does he bite down hard.

Does the increase in symptoms mean we might see him cut a tooth soon, or could it all fade away again before anything happens?

Sorry to say but with my ds these symptoms lasted on and off for a year before his first tooth showed up (at 15 months )

Having said that, there wasn't anything different about the bout of symptoms that finally heralded his 1st tooth- nothing to say that "this was really it" iyswim, so maybe a little gnasher will appear sooner rather than later for your ds! Good luck.
