School have commented on dd’s poor focus and concentration in class. She’s often the last one to finish and usually doesn’t complete her tasks.

is it possible to improve focus at this age? If so how? Are there a list of things I need to do to help her focus?

Feeling really upset that I’ve failed my daughter by not doing more with her to be a focused child.

Could she have adhd or similar?
Could you have her assessed by an educational psychologist to see where exactly she's having difficulty? You could then focus on these areas to help and there will be guidance given to the school on how to assist her.

I wouldn't blame yourself though. Everyone's different. One of my kids has dyslexia and dyspraxia and has issues with things his siblings find straightforward.

My son is the same, he’s 8. He has very little focus and concentration and is very easily distracted. I have been told that magnesium gunnies can improve focus and concentration and stress ve read up on them a bit, so I’m going to give these and try. They help with other things like better night sleep, digestion etc. hope this helps x

Will she concentrate on something she enjoys @mamatothreebunnies?

Are the school reports something along the lines of "is bright and could do really better if she applied herself".

If they are, I'd start reading up as much on inattentive ADHD as you can find.

And yes, there are some things you can do. Make sure she has plenty of exercise, so things like a trip to the park or bouncing on a trampoline before school.

Protein rich breakfast and snacks.

And talk to the school about fidget today and movement breaks.
