My almost 2 year old wakes up moaning goes to bed moaning and guess what he constantly moans in between. He doesnt really have tantrums as yet but just winges and is very clingy all the time and hardly ever does anything on his own He is very demanding. Is he just a normal toddler? Been like this for about 6 months.

My DD1 was like this from being about 16 months old. It drove me mad. Sorry to say that when she turned 2 it did escalate into full blown tantrums. I found it hard but I just ignored it every time and after a month or two it just seem to fizzle out (slowly!)

I think it as fairly normal or at least fairly common for kids at this age as they are beginning to assert their likes and dislikes and also testing the boundaries.

I think most toddlers are clingy and that's not always a bad thing. I miss the days of DD1 hanging off my leg and wanting to be around me all the time! (I must admit at the time, it drove me bonkers!)

Now she's a confident, happy 3 and half year old who doesn't whinge (too much!) and is a delightful little girl.

It will pass. My only advice is to ignore the whinging as much as you can and also try distracting him. Painting and colouring, swimming- anything that involves him concentrating on something other than driving you up the wall!
