Anyone got a non verbal child? Did they show any signs as early as 1? ...

Yes they did. Although she did start speaking later she still has problems with expressing emotions.

If your LO is 12 months, you could try this SLT progress checker.

Is LO due to have their 12 month check soon?

@SiouxsieSiouxStiletto what signs did your baby show that they were non verbal? My baby girl is nearly 1 but already I am certain she has autism, she has had all the signs since 6 months. She has physio therapy starting next week as she doesn't crawl or stand/walk and then the dietitian as she doesn't eat anything! She is super fussy. She also has all the typical signs like no eye contact, rocking, flapping.. the list could go on ... but I am mainly concerned about speech. Iknow at 1 she's young anyway to be speaking .. but I do still worry as she can only say dada and it has no real meaning. She babbles all the time but it's just gibberish. What was your babies signs of being non verbal ?

Pretty much the same. It doesn't mean that she'll stay non-verbal though. DD started talking at 3.

@SiouxsieSiouxStiletto that's reassuring that your little one is talking now. Are you able to communicate well? All I truly want is to be able to communicate with her. I want her to know my love for her and her to be able to express it back in her own way at least.

We thought my grandson was deaf as he didn't respond to his name or didn't jump at any loud noises. I was ringing a little bell for my granddaughter who was 6 months and she was following the sound but my grandson completely ignored it. He was diagnosed at 2 years 9 months. He's now 6 he's in year 1 at mainstream school. He has started to talk calls me nanny which melts my heart and is out of nappies during the day. He's obsessed with numbers and his teacher said she's had to check answers to questions on a calculator. He is the sweetest little boy. He gets annoyed with his cousins if they go anywhere near his numbers (he has cards 0-200 lined up on the floor) but he just says go away and close the door. We never thought he would talk but he's getting there. If you have any concerns please speak to your health visitor. My daughter is a nurse and raised her concerns with her HV at my grandsons 1 year assessment and she agreed that he wasn't meeting his milestones. She set the ball rolling and he got an early diagnosis which has helped to get the assistance he needs at school.
