Is my 7 month old naughty?!

So far in life I have been around pretty mellow babies so now being a mother to my own very very VERY energetic and active baby has been a change and I love it and her so very much.
She's 7M and very much at the frustrated whingy 'I can't move but want to' stage and I've had a few comments about how she's naughty and probably will be when she's older?
Here are some examples of her behaviours that have brought on a 'naughty' comment

  • screeching and shouting all day long, sometimes happy but alot of the time angry frustrated screeching untill walked around
  • wanting to be walked around the house or go out all the time, never ever happy to sit and play with a toy
  • pretends to scream and cry (no tears) to get whatever it is she wants and smiles as soon as she has it. I find this one hilarious but nobody agrees
  • tries to jump off bed and sofa and will scream if sat still for one second and always wants to be entertained and on the move or will screech

I didn't think anything of it, presumed she was being a baby but the comments have got to me a little. Any advice?

Whoever says a 7 month old is naughty needs to read up a little on normal baby behaviour before commenting on your lovely little DD Flowers

She's a baby! Whoever is saying this to you is an idiot.

@Jigglypuff87 @SiouxsieSiouxStiletto thank you for the reassurance x

She is literally a tiny human with no concept of the world but I even got told by someone 'you never tell her off' (?!?!?!?) Ridiculous and cruel. That being said is there anything i can do to make things easier for her during this frustrated lack of mobility stage?

We taught ours some signs, simple ones like milk, more and up at first. Once they could sign back, it did seem to take out some of the frustration.

I've not read There's no such thing as naughty but it seems to get recommended a fair bit on MN and seems to have good reviews.

Your DD sounds lovely btw Wink

Of course she’s not naughty!!
She is a baby, who does not know what naughty means.
Please chill out & enjoy her being a baby!

Of course she's not being naughty, she's 7 months old! The only thing on there you might want to gently steer away from is the pretend crying (if you can). It's cute when a small baby does it, but less so when a toddler does it! My DC went through a phase of this and it was so draining.

@SiouxsieSiouxStiletto signing is a great idea!!! Will try implementing it into DD's daily life might make things easier thank you 😀

@Scirocco I agree. Do you have any suggestions on how to do so? Maybe ignore it or gently distract ?

@Firsttimemama01 what I did was just be clear and consistent that screaming and pretend crying for no reason did not result in them getting the thing they wanted, and I didn't give the behaviour positive reinforcement. I didn't punish or tell off, but when the behaviour stopped getting giggles and didn't get rewards, it stopped pretty quickly,.

Pretty much how we handled it too Wink
