colic in 8 week-old baby?

Has anyone had colic start at this point in time. My dd seems to have developed all the classic symptoms: very painful farting and pooing; not settling to sleep; wanting to feed all the time and then too tired; crying for comfort when put down.

She has been a very easy baby up to this point. Has anyone else had colic START at this time?

I was also wondering if anyone had experienced this starting after immunisations. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for them but she has been like this since her injections on Tuesday.

And finally, would it help to ry infacol or similar?

Thanks in advance.

not sure about the injectionds but infacol or colief can't remember which one, really helped with our first ds. For our second ds, we are using a massage oil and this helps him.

Hope it gets better soon...

Thanks Sannie. What kind of oil do you use? Does it have lavender?

hi susie - my DS doesn't have full blown colic but cries because seems to get trapped wind pain after feeds, he can be soothed - as long as he is not still hungry - by putting him in my sling (moby wrap) which holds him upright, he usually calms down & drops off to sleep it's amazing.

my ds started colic at a similar age and i was just thinking last night that all his symptons seem to have gone - without me noticing! he is 16 weeks now.
he was really fussy in the evenings and i used to give him infacol but it had little effect really. he began to only poo once a week but the doc was not concerned! Anyway, it has gone now - funny how i had just got used to dealing with it! oh yeah, used to find that laying him on his back without nappy and peddling his legs used to stop him crying (would start again soon as i stopped peddling but used to give me a break from the noise)

it's from Weleda....if you can't find it, my midwife said just plain olive oil is fine just massage clockwise around the bellybutton

Re: massage oils; several baby massage training people have told me that common or garden sunflower oil is by far the best and kindest to babies' skins; better than olive oil and certainly better than the expensive oils sold specifically for massage, which have lots of perfume and chemicals in.
(Having said that, neither of my 2 ever stayed still long enough to be massaged, so I am no expert!)

Thank you all. She's had a bit of sleep today and I'm hoping for a better night tonight.
