What is the best thing to do first?
DS is 10 and has traits of ADHD we'll probably since birth but it's never really been significant enough to cause any problems. He's just gone into a new school year and already he is struggling with having to sit at a desk all day and has been told off multiple times for misbehaving. He's come home really upset and feels like he's being targeted. I think it's now got to the point that I need to DO something but I'm not sure what best course of action to take.
Thanks

I think the forest thing to do is talk to him about the possibility of being ND and seeing if he's willing to be assessed.

I'd also talk to the school and ask their SENCO to have a look at him.

And if you post in the SN Children Section they can talk you through applying for an ECHP and what they should include Flowers

I'm in Scotland so no SENCO and no EHCPs....

I've made an appointment to speak to the teacher

If you're in Scotland, once you've spoken with the teacher, if you're still concerned then you can ask your GP to refer to CAMHS - they can then consider the referral and hopefully make a start on an assessment for him. I'm not sure what the current waiting lists are like though.
