3.5 month old not turning to sound

Hi
My DS is 3.5 months doesn’t turn to sound either my voice or a rattle etc and was just looking for some reassurance from others who have experienced this. He will startle at loud noises. He was born at 37+2 weeks although stopped growing at 35 weeks. If this makes a difference. He will smile when spoken to and give good eye contact when lying down. Although not great when held but will when being fed. He does babble and coo. I’m probably just overthinking as I work in a childcare setting so think I’m just hypersensitive to signs of ASD not that I would love my child any less if this was the case.

I'm not sure that's a milestone is it?

If you are worried about hearing at all though, I'd ask for another hearing test.

I've just checked the Ages & Stages questionnaires (the ones the health visitors usually use), and turning to look for a voice or for a loud sound doesn't appear until the 6 month questionnaire, so your DS has lots of time yet, 6 months is ages away in baby terms.

@skkyelark thank you for checking. This makes me feel better. I think I'm just being a anxious first time mum.

Hi @Louby5 any update on your LO? I'm going through the same thing with my 13 week old.

Hi @overfed my DS in now just over 5 month and is turning to sounds a lot more and will turn to try and find voices unless he is distracted. His eye contact still is limited when being held but he is starting to do it more and more.

I would say I had nothing to worry about and it will come in time. I just don't think I gave my LO enough time to develop before I started to worry.

Hi sorry for taking months to reply, I deleted the app as I found it was feeding my anxiety rather than helping.

Here’s an update on my little one for anyone who has come across my post looking for the same reassurance I was at this stage.

My little one is now nearly 17 months old and he is very chatty, and interacts with everyone, says hiya to every person we walk passed in the street. I now have no concerns although occasionally my anxiety will creep up and put little lies into my head which I am able to control better. I would say if you are having these thoughts and worries about your little one, just give it time, they will get there and you’ll wonder what all the worrying was about, just enjoy this age whilst you can as it really doesn’t last very long.
