Potty training, 3 years 5 months please read

My little girl is 3 years 5 months and i am having a nightmare with potty training. She has had a potty and a toilet seat from a very young age, i thought she would get used to it and it would click...
She starts full time nursery in september and im pressured by people around me to get her fully potty trained. So i started taking the nappies off her and were 2 weeks in - she hasnt used a toilet or potty since. She will evidently look at me and say she doesnt need the toilet, followed by 'mummy ive wee/poo'.
She very clever and knows what the toilet/potty is and what its for but always says during a tantrum 'i dont want to use toilet'.
I am tempted to reintroduce pull ups but i dont want to give up. But im not sure if this means she isnt ready.

Does anyone have any advice?
Has anyone been through this?
Is she not ready and am i pushing her too far?
I have spoken with HV and they say to persevere.

Thanks for reading if you got this far. Any replies would be so much appreciated. Please no judgements.

Do you get her to sit on the potty with a book or a snack whilst watched a tv programme or you rub the bath?

Have you tried potty training before?

Yes, she has a little pink toilet because i thought she doesnt like the look of the potty. Ive asked her to sit on it and sometimes she will and she will be watching the television or colouring, but still gets off it without doing anything. Thats if i can get her on the mini toilet, usually she will have a tantrum and continue to say 'i dont want to i dont want to'.

This is why i wonder, is she just not ready?

It could be that she's not ready but that would be unusual at her age.

Will she use the toilet with a seat?

I am teaching my second one now, with good success. I do two things - sit on the toilet at routine times (no asking, we just do it). That went well for both kids for about two or three days, until the novelty and “big kid” excitement wore off. Then when they start to protest I keep up with the non-negotiable routine but add bribes. 😂 “time to sit on the toilet. If you put wee or poo in the toilet I’ll give you a sweetie!”

I know bribes are bad, but it works for me. “Let’s wee and get a sweetie!” 10 times a day = dry pants here.

Can’t help but my DD is the same (3 years 3 months) and starts full time nursery in September too.

Although she spent some time with my friends DD who is younger and potty trained last week and went toilet with her and since then she’s asking to sit on the toilet more, hasn’t done anything on it but it’s progress!

Chocolate buttons are your friend! Generally I’m not in favour of bribery but this is one area where it works really well.

I've had a few friends use chocolate buttons and it seemed to really help

Agree completely with the bribery. We had a total potty refuser at 3 years 1 month. One pouch of smarties later and he was fully potty trained. We did two days of potty and then the third day continued the bribery to get him on the toilet on day three. We've had the occasionally wee accident when he's not stopped playing in time but they are rare. He knew what to do he just needed the incentive to bother trying.
