Baby trouble

Advice please!

My baby is 4 weeks old and for the last 3/4 days she's been terrible in the evening from around 7pm - 10pm she will just cry and fuss. My instinct is saying she's overtired because she's been changed, fed etc and I don't feel like it's colic/reflux as she doesn't mind being put on her back as that's what we do to calm her down is to put her on a changing mat (she doesn't moan when getting changed) but after 5 minutes she's moaning again. She's exclusively BF and I'll try and feed her but she gets really mad after a few minutes, going red in the face and hitting. I'm at my wit's end, I can't eat my dinner with my partner and he does help where he can but also at a loss as to what to do. She's fine in the day and very good at night it's just the evening that's a nightmare. Tia!

Witching hour / cluster feeding. So hard but not uncommon

Sounds like witching hour.
Take her new a new environment- the garden or the bathroom and run some water.

We had this for a long time and changing his environment really helped.

Agree that it's totally normal although can be frustrating for you. I think though that once you accept it's normal and there's nothing wrong, it gets easier to cope with.

If she's getting frustrated, maybe try some Breast Compressions but what she's doing is perfectly normal and will probably fix with time.

Have a read of What to expect in the early weeks and cluster feeding and fussy evenings.

If DH wants to help, could he take her for a walk in a sling or the pushchair for half an hour to give you a break? Or he could just bring you drinks and snacks?

We had this for three weeks and we developed a routine of things that always or usually stopped her crying. We broke it into units of time and did one thing after another.
Things that always stopped her crying include going in the shower with her which could kill up to 45 mins, putting her in the carrier and walking outside which could kill 15 mins or Longer if it led to a nap. Things that usually stopped her crying included playing heavy metal to her (yes really, and even led to a nap at times!) And when desperate, a Hey Bear baby sensory video which killed 15 mins usually. Write your list and try a routine. Its a bit relentless but it cuts the crying by 80%. This too shall pass xxx
