Hi, I have a 3 year old daughter who used to be very active. She'd walk for miles with no problems. She has had a bout of D& V which has left her quite week and she hasn't wanted to walk very far. It has been two weeks now since she was ill and still she won't walk very far. She wants to be picked up every few minutes. Is this becoming a behavurel issue or is she realy lacking in energy? She is very tall for her age and has grown out of her pushchair. She is only just 3 but the hight of the average 4 year old. Should I give in and buy a buggy? I don't know what make would fit a child the size of a 4 year old, and I'd want it to last a while too.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Hhhmm, as mum to a very very tall 5yr old dd my thoughts are : two weeks is quite a short time to get over a nasty bug - some can take 6 weeks or more to clear the system: doesn't sound remotely like a behavioural issue to me, just a LO that feels under par. Don't buty a buggy, just don't expect her to walk any distance until she has recovered her strength - if you have to walk great distances (like to school with another dc) then I would try and borrow a buggy as a last resort. If it carries on I would probably visit the GP to check for any underlying problems that might cause such a drop in energy, but my guess is that she has not yet got over a nasty bug. HTH

Thanks, I'm sure you're right. I didn't realise it can take so long to get over an illness. It was a particulally bad virus as it produced a meningeacocle rash, which she was admitted to hospital for. If we go out, I'll take her pushchair just in case.
