Hi All

My little one is 5 and a half months old and he is a lovely happy contented baby. His sleeping has been going really well and we have been finally getting some good (ish) nights sleep.

Baby was poorly for the last 3 weeks with a nasty cold and since being better his sleeping pattern has almost gone back to how it was before. Except now he is waking really early in the morning. I used to put him to bed at around 6.30 and he would sleep through till 6.30 in the morning (maybe waking up once or twice in the night but going straight back down). Last week he started waking up at 5.30, then 5 and this morning he woke up at 4am! Wide awake and ready for the day to begin. I have tried backing up his bedtime, so last night he went to bed at 7.30 but he woke up even earlier!

In the daytime i would say he has about 2 hours worth of naps through-out the day. Never in one go though, he has always had short naps of between 30 mins - 45 mins.

Has anyone else had this experience and did baby start lying in again? At least till about 6am? Tell me it's a phase!!

Has anyone got any suggestions for keeping baby snoozing??

Lu xx

Hello
We had just this with DS1. If does pass (he now sleeps brilliantly from 7-7) but it took a while. Changing his bedtime never worked in fact just seemed to make him more tired and restless. In the end we started taking him into our bed, holding his hands and 'ignroing' him (often it seemed his flailing arms were keeping him awake!). Usually we got an extra hour or so that way but not always. It did pass but it took a couple of months.
Good luck

DS went through a phase like this when I returned to work, I got over it by making it a bedtime routine, gave him a bottle and put him back down, not much milk just a few oz and then reduced this over a few days, soon put him back on track.
