Per the title, DS is 2 weeks off of being 3. I've had some concerns regarding his behaviour. I reached out to the HV who said I needed to speak with the "nursery stages behaviour team" and they'd contact me in a week. In the mean time I was told to use the text services and that was as helpful as a chocolate teapot in the Sahara desert. They seemed to have no clue, she didn't know who the CDC was, she told me to "just ignore" when he's launching things down the stairs or slapping his brother, she said to "just give him a snack whenever he starts" and as soon as she found out DS2 was awaiting his CAMHs assessment she immediately washed her hands of it.

When the "behaviour team" finally contacted me a month later she again was useless, I was told as I'd made a self assessment to Portage she'd call me back the following Monday so she'd have a clear picture and surprise surprise this was 2 weeks ago and hasn't happened.

Portage have agreed it's not "typical terrible 2's/Threenager" behaviour and he's been accepted on their waiting list but you're talking at least 12-18+ months.

I've just filled in the ASQ:SE-2 36 month questionnaire and he scored 175. The cut off for referral is 105. The highest being on page 3 with 65.

Any ASD/ADHD etc referrals have to be made through CAMHs who won't let you refer them till 5 and over. So I'm at a loss with what exactly am I suppose to do or where i'm suppose to turn. I had a long 6 year battle with DS2 to get his referral and I don't know If I can do it again

Does the referral definitely have to go through CAHMS? Our GP referred our DC2 to Community Paediatrics who are dealing with the assessment.

If they won't refer until 5, Caudwell Children will assess at 4.

Apologies though OP, I really don't have much experience of the system, just enough to know that it's utterly fucking broken.

Have you tried the SN Children Section? There are some much more knowledgeable MNers in there Flowers

Unfortunately it does 😓 our area community peads will see you but only to rule out if it’s anything physical causing it (cystic fibrosis/ cerebral palsy etc) once that’s ruled out they discharge you and refuse to engage. I waited 3 years for them to see DS2 and after making him go through a traumatic blood test they asked him 3 questions said it wasn’t physical and refused to see him again 🙄

hi, I’m currently going through this with my DS 2.5 - we repeated his ASQ:SE2 4 months after his 2 year review and he scored 145 so well above the cut off (the 30 month version)

the HV has said we should do a referral but we need a supporting letter from his nursery that he attends 2 days a week and who don’t see a lot of behaviour. Is this going to cause an issue with a referral being made? I’m concerned that with him still being young, they will just say no and this will all be a waste of time.

would be interested to know how you’re getting on!
