Hello.
my son will soon be 17 months. He babbles alot but no words. No pointing.
i could hear Coco from him (for cocomelon). He looks at Tv when we Coco. He has limited screen time.
he is not pointing also to show what he wants. He just pulls my hand to take me door to get it opened. Handme over his sipper if he wants to get it opened
he does not follow commands . If i ask him
to hand me something, he will what he has in his hands. But when i say hand me the ball.. he does not know what a ball is.

paed says its okay if speech is delayed but he should follow commands that is important. He says he will get him evaluated at 2years.

he is social. he does not cry when he sees strangers, he does not play with the kids but also dont ignore them, he watches what they are doing and how they are playing.
he is a fun boy. Climbs ,runs ,claps ,waves bye bye. Great eye contact. Plays with everyone, kisses me. When i am not looking at him he will move my head towards him and then kiss me..
i am just too concerned with no pointing. I understand that speech could be delayed. But no pointing is eating me. He takes the index finger out ( so he knows that) but it is in excitement and not to point at something
he is my only child and first one too.
he is also very privileged. He gets things before he wants things. Like there is a routine set, its his nap time, brkfsat lunch time.

Everyone say i am thinking too much, reading too much internet. But when i see children younger than him atleast pointing, my heart breaks

Pointing, I remember that particular worry. DD had no language issues and pointed maybe once that I can remember when she was 18 months. DS had a severe speech and language delay and didn't point until 2.5 and had no words until 3.5 - it seemed to me that in the nursery all of DS's little friends were constantly pointing when it wasn't even on my radar with DD.

Pointing is important because it shows joint attention which is a pre-verbal skill, apparently, clearly no-one told DD that. Your DS is very young, and he is communicating with you which is important, at 16 months my DS had no form of communication.
