All the fun toys are for over 36 months

DD is coming up 21 months and seems to be getting bored with the toddler toys, shape sorters etc. She seems to want more pretend play, for example tea parties.

Most of the toys I think she would like are for over 3, I'm assuming this is because they are dangerous for younger kids.

How much of a risk are they? She doesn't really put random things in her mouth.

If they are a risk then can anyone recommend toys that would be suitable for her age?

Thanks

It's a matter of your judgement – we, and most parents I know, gave our first child some '3+' toys before they were 3. We avoided things with very small parts that might be easily swallowed, for example, or anything too easily broken, but she got a toy kitchen for Christmas when she was 18 months old, and a toy tea set at either 18 months or 2 years.

Then of course our second DD got access to all sorts from as soon as she could crawl – tiny stuff is still quarantined, and we've removed the smallest pieces from some things like play food, but she's got access to many of her older sister's toys. If she started really chewing on things or bashing stuff about, we'd have to remove more.

If you do want to stick to stuff officially for her age range, you can find some doll prams, tea sets, etc. for her age group. Duplo is also good, and I think Happyland (lots of different animals and figures for pretend/small world play) is 18+ months.

Good call on the duplo, she likes blocks so that could be a good move.

For the rest I will probably just look at the toys rather than the age range and pick some things she can enjoy.

Thanks

I don't know will you see this, but puppet theaters are ones that your child might like

I heard parents being over the moon for them, and I suggest getting cheap one - even if quality is kind of cheap - main value here is that you can pretend and you child could pretend - you can try someone making one for you, but don't know where and whether it will be cheaper.

I advice you to search best option, even if it's not on amazon.
