Length centile drop from 50th-2nd

Hello, I will try to keep this as short as possible but also adding all the details as they are likely relevant.

My little boy was born by emergency c section at 41+6. He was on the 50th centile for length but was diagnosed with hyperinsulinism (producing too much insulin). During my pregnancy he suffered with IUGR however we were allowed to proceed without induction as he was growing, just a bit slower/smaller. Eventually he completed a fast at 4 months old off of his medication and passed so was stated to have been transient.

He gained weight and length great until we started weaning. He started vomiting and ended up down a&e. There were suggestions of reflux (he was a bit more vomity than a normal baby prior to weaning but having spoken to mums with reflux babies he was never like that, happy to lay flat and never had colic/screaming episodes) and a dairy intolerance and so we went additional dairy free, still having dairy formula.

The vomiting stopped and his weaning got better after a few hurdles but from this point both his weight and height have been affected. He has gone from just above the 50th centile for height to approx the 2nd. We had a check up with the royal London hospital in April where they were concerned (the dr stated I would be 75th centile for my height and my OH would be in the 90th, so they would definitely expect him to be longer and not dropping so much) so they took bloods to test for growth hormones.

His results came back as 33, the range being 11-100, so low but still within the normal range. I did also notice two of his other hormones (follicle stimulating hormone and luteinising hormone) were stated as below normal levels. The doctors basically said it's a waiting game and we just have to keep monitoring his growth but I just wondered in the mean time if anyone else had experienced anything similar with such big centile drops in length (I can find things on weight but not length).

It's a constant battle of trying to be in the mind set of, I can't do anything to influence his height and we just have to wait and see vs feel guilt and getting upset feeling like I've failed him. I know adult height isn't/shouldn't matter one bit, but if it affects other things like his fertility then it's really hard to just wait it out.

He is a happy boy, hitting milestones etc and I really need to just focus on all of that but it's hard so I just wondered if anyone had been in a similar situation!
