Crawling late and oddly

Hi.
First time mum, I’ve tried to stay calm and not frantic about my baby turning 1 and still not crawling, but in the last day he started to and I was so elated that I didn’t to start with realise he was crawling by using his left foot flat on the floor then bring his right knee after. Kind of a half crawl, he’s always hated any attempt over the last few months to encourage knee crawling, whenever I got him in position he’d just cry or splay his legs out immediately. To be honest and maybe bad mum moment I just thought he was lazy, he reaches for toys and kind of shuffles a little on his bum and likes being on his feet with support. He hit his head lifting early, sitting early and bang on with his unassisted sitting. But has struggled with moving around,I guess what I’m asking is does anyone else Lo do this or any advice on how to help him? He’s at a point where he’s been frustrated for so long not being able to that he’s so excited to be on the move, but I don’t want it to hinder his development by crawling this way. We’ve spent the day trying to help him get on both knees but he won’t have it even a little and seems to confuse him. Any help advice would be much appreciated. Thank you

I think I'd talk to your HV and ask her to do the Ages & Stages for 12 months. She may want to refer him for some physio.

How is he with weight bearing?

Thank you for your reply, really appreciate it. He’s okay when cruising along the sofa but quite shaky on and off when assisted on to his feet and walking with our help. He just so bad wants to be on the move bless him, and don’t want to do him wrong by either interfering and slowing him down or not doing anything and it affecting him in the long run.
