High pitched cry

My 6 year old has been put on the assessment waiting list for ADHD/ASD. Happily, the reasons seem to have settled dramatically the past few weeks and I am almost thinking that whatever has been causing these behaviours is possibly a phase she's coming out of.
There's been huge issues with food but she's even suddenly asking to try the odd new thing, I have been overwhelmed with happiness about this.
Then, these last few days the distressed behaviour has started reappearing. Aggression, whining, complaining of tummy ache, argumentative, sulky, short tempered. But now accompanied by a new very high pitched wailing cry that is so loud it's awful to hear. It's brand new, accompanied with screaming and repeating sentences over and over.
Obviously im going to do whatever it takes to get my girl happy, it's all I want for her. Im just wanting to know if this wailing/ crying thing is fairly typical or another possible indicator of something more. Thankyou

Sounds as though she might be overwhelmed or possibly in pain.

My DD is on the Pathway too and isn't always good at recognising the difference between hunger/thirst/needing the toilet/being overtired and pain. We start when she's getting distressed by getting her to go to the toilet, then giving her something to eat and drink, somewhere quiet. If she's still distressed maybe take her home if she's out or let her play in her room alone. If she's still not coming around I'd try a dose of Calpol.

If she's extremely fussy with food, does she have ARFID?

How's her sleep at night?

Been a hectic day.
The cry seems to be purely for anything at all, she's always cried for attention but I've been trying to encourage better communication than that. This is on another level and she's not in pain she's furious but for no obvious reason.
I will look at ARFID thank you

Is she getting any SLT @Sux2buthen? That might help her to communicate?

Is she a bit overwhelmed with things at the min? Do things like headphones, sunglasses and a hat help?

Also, the SN Children section might be useful. You might get a few more replies in there Flowers

Thankyou, I was a bit stressed when I posted this I forgot about that topic.
She has a tent in the living room that's her do not disturb place and we have a few systems that were working that the school SENCO suggested but all of a sudden she's regressing her behaviour again.
I've had a chat with her tonight but I could tell from her eyes and smile she was thinking about other things entirely Gringot to smile or I'd cry in frustration for her

I think you could drive yourself mad trying to work out why she's had a change. My DD can even react to temperature, so if it's too warm outside she can start to get overloaded.

We just have to try and work on going through a list of what might be bothering her, she has ARFID so hunger is usually a likely suspect, and try to get her a little happier.

Hmm for a child that doesn't eat many foods she does fixate a lot on it. She only likes sugary stuff and will happily starve herself if that's not what's there. It's very hard, I make her limited range as healthy as I can but it's so hard isn't it.
You're right I suppose the why is less important than dealing with the now.

My DD has a very limited diet too but will focus on one food and eat that endlessly for a few weeks then go off it. We've had one particular pizza recently, then it was mashed potato but only done in a particular way now it appears to be strawberries (at least that one has a vitamin).

Definitely sounds like she could have ARFID.

Thankyou for taking the time to reply, I have been reading about arfid now and I think it does sound possible. Thankyou Flowers
