Could you tell me what your 18 month old can do please?

In terms of language, gestures, instructions, copying, playing etc.

I think my DD might be a bit behind and it would be good to know how others are getting on.

DD1 was an early talker (spoke in strings of words at 18 months, although not exactly sentences), and DD2 isn't 18 months old yet, so I'm afraid I can't really help you with personal experience when it comes to communication. Play-wise, DD1 liked the play kitchen at that age, so I suppose was doing basic role play, liked to scribble with a crayon, and was just getting good at those piece-in-hole type puzzles.

Have you had a look at the questionnaire the health visitors use for 18 months (https://www.cgfm.com/wp-content/uploads/ASQ-18mo.pdf)? That would give you a better sense of the range of typical development. The scoring sheet is at the back – they never expect 6 'yeses' in a section, and it's not uncommon to have one or two scores in the grey.

That's very helpful @skkyelark, thank you.
