Is this an impossible task?

Ok, so ds has finally got his first tooth (yay), and we have been instructed by the HV to clean it at least once a day. Seriously, how in the name of all that is holy does one clean an eight-month-old baby's tooth? Quite apart from the fact he generally refuses to open his mouth, how do you get him to rinse and spit? Or am I being really stupid?

You are being a tad ambitious with rinsing and spitting! Just get a baby toothbrush or one of those other devices - there's a brush that sits on the end of an adult's finger, for instance, put some toothpaste on and attempt to contact tooth. Good luck...

Btw, advice from dentists when ds was a baby was to use plain adult toothpaste, not baby pastes - they don't contain enough fluoride. Sainsbury's own brand was fine - think it contains the optimum amount. ALthough helpfully can't recall what that was.

You can buy these little toothbrushes from Boots -they fit on your fingertip so you can brush the tooth whilst your finger is clamped in his mouth!
Other than that just but a first toothbrush and lunge for a few seconds

Ok, thanks. So, pretty much like we do with the cat it seems. No problem
