10 wk DS - attention

Morning All

My DS is 10 weeks and over the last couple of weeks he has become a lot more attentive, which is lovely.

But he seems to need attention to play all of the time. Everytime I put him down (even to go to the loo), whether it is on his play mat, under his mobile or in his swing, he cry's for attention very quickly.

Is this just a phase that he will go through until he has the ability to play on his own?

He is an absolute delight, but it is very tiring to amuse him constantly at the moment. And nothing else gets done.

Advice please.

Hiya, this is totally normal at this age!

It will get easier as he gets bigger, in the meantime a sling would be a lifesaver as you can get on with watching daytime telly stuff around the house and he should be happier.

As you say he is becoming more aware of his surroundings. Which is good and normal although it might get restricting and tiring for you at times.
I mostly carried mine around with me (even to the toilet) and found that helped when they could look around at things while I was doing stuff. It doesn't have to be anything special as everything is new and interesting.

BabiesRFun, my ds pretty much needed constant holding/attention/cuddles until he was 3m. Then it was a bit less, and a bit less, but now at 10m I still can't ignore him for more than about 5 minutes. he is pulling on my clothes and shouting, gtg...

Thanks for the reassurance!!

MegBusset... daytime telly - yeah right!!

I do have a sling but tend to use it outdoors, so I will try it in doors as well.

Yep, my 5 month old DD has just stopped wanting to be held all the time and will now sit quite happily for half an hour in her highchair whilst I get on with doing breakfast etc. A few weeks ago, she was far harder so the answer is, yes, it can be a phase!!

Good luck!!
