5 YEAR OLD WETTING DURING DAY

I am going crazy, my daughter has just turned 5 and has been wetting everyday particularly at school for about 12 months now. Initially she had a urine infection but now thats cleared and it still happens. School not happy and have asked me to take her to a clinic for wetting!!! I have done this and they said she may have a weak bladder and in half term i have to fill out a chart to establish her fluid intake and wetting patterns, then they may give her some meds to strangthen bladder. However they said it can take months to work. The confusing thing is that at home/out and about accidents are rare. I have stopped pull ups apart from school trips to save embarassment or chapped legs. I dont know what else to do to encourage her to stop. School are still pressuring me but I have told them i cant wave a magic wand!! Anyone had the same problem??

Jodyray - Sending lots of praise to your DD on day 2. Whispers [whats the secret??]

That is great, well done to your DD.

Jodyray - only just seen this thread, so a bit behind . my ds (5.9) has been on meds for this for a year now. The paed said it was probably an immature bladder, but that psychological factors also play an important part. Stress being the most influential.

The med is Ditropan which he takes for a couple of months, then a month or so off. The problem has got much better over the year - strangely though he is going through a bad patch at the moment. (maybe the weather?)

It's crucial though that the school are supportive - I am really at their response. the additional stress really won't be helping your dd.

no idea how she has done it unless its cos school have backed off since i told them she has been clinic...i will see if she has achieved day 3 in about an hour.

Tiggerish - there is some stress i suppose new baby, new patner in last 2 and a half yrs, starting school, she does not see biological waster ahem dad as he has moved 4hours away and it costs to much in fuel to see her!!! so yes i think that may be a factor but the clinic did say weak bladder. I have to monitor her over half term they they will prescribe meds. Thanks everyone for support xx
