Undiagnosed Autism and diet

Hello everyone. My son is 3 years old and is suspected to have Autism. He's had all the specialist reports done in nursery and has referrals to speech and language, OT and for an Autism assessment.
One of my main concerns is his diet!
He'll only eat cereal, cheese sandwich, yoghurts, Billy bear ham or chicken nuggets from McDonald's. The rest of his diet is pretty much crap (snacks and crisps)
I'm so worried I don't know what to do.
I'm looking for anyone in a similar position that has had the same struggles and if they've any advice on what they've done to achieve their children eating more?
I have other children that eat ok and often I'll cook a tiny bit extra whilst cooking their dinner and pop it on a plate and place the plate where he eats. But that causes a meltdown of all meltdowns until the plate is moved. Or he'll take the plate himself and put it on the kitchen side. Nursery get him involved in snack time but he won't try anything. Even watching the other children.
I'm so worried about his health I just don't know what to do.

It's so hard isn't it @EveryCloudd? Will he take a multivitamin? Maybe one of the gummy type ones?

Have you found the SN Children section yet? You might get a few tips if you post in there Flowers

Omega 3 oil helps with appetites. Went from pasta, cereal and chicken nuggets only to a variety of meals in a space of 3 months. I threw away all the snacks and only give him fruit and veg but now he eats his whole meal 3x a day and tries new dishes. Also give multivitamins like bassets which my son prefers compared to all the other ones we have tried and failed. It's really frustrating we were stuck in this loop for a few years before trying omega 3 where I felt he was malnourished and not growing at a pace compared to his peers. Btw I pinned him down for the omega 3 oils like i normally do with calpol or antibiotics as there was no way he would submit himself voluntarily to take the vitamin. Good luck.

Hi, your son is eating a “beige” diet, quite typical of autistic children.
Keep trying without pushing and see if he will eat a multivitamin.
what drinks does he like? Will he drink a veg or fruit smoothie?

I've had to use drops because even though he'll eat Haribo, his strawberry spaceship gummy sweets he won't touch 🤦‍♀️

Thank you 😊
Strangely he'll take calpol. But only if he sees the liquid in the tube is pink. Tried nurofen once and as soon as he saw the colour difference that was a no go 🤦‍♀️

He'll have berry's and cherries, orange and pineapple, milk on its own or with chocolate powder added. Anything different in colour or texture he'll run a mile 😬

His diet up until a couple of months ago was pretty much the same, but these things he would have..
Pizza (but only from Aldi or yellow packet Asda)
Spaghetti bolognese ready meal (refused fresh, I don't even know how he could tell but he did)
Bakes beans
Now he won't touch any of it

Hi, this is all quite typical of ASD. Sounds as though he is eating from all food groups though.
Sensory issues are huge so tastes, sounds etc heightened, pain thresholds can also vary.
