He will be 9mo this week. He seems 'normal' otherwise, just hasn't got any teeth yet, didn't know at what stage I should be concerned about this...?

Nope.

Squirtle · 09/02/2008 15:06

When he is 9 years old and still has no teeth

er, now I've read your OP properly (sorry) you have nothing to worry about. My neice was 2 and toothless when she got referred.

flowerybeanbag · 09/02/2008 15:07

I'd probably get a bit panicky before 9 yo squirtle, but sounds as though I've got a while before I need worry!

DS and one of his little friends were both toothless until at least 10m

He's now late losing his baby teeth, too!

Squirtle · 09/02/2008 15:17

Sorry, that was not very helpful. I can't remember when any of my 3 first got teeth.

roisin · 09/02/2008 15:31

I think most have a first tooth by 12 months.

DS1 cut his first at 10 months, ds2 was almost 12 months! They were both later than most of their peers.

But late first teeth is also related to late second teeth, which has to be a good thing in terms of tooth decay and so on.

PotPourri · 09/02/2008 15:49

My two didn't get a tooth until well after a year. Don't worry - and appreciate not having all hte sleepless nihgts teething brings befor they can talk and be console easily.

CoffeeCrazedMama · 09/02/2008 16:02

dd2 did not get her first tooth until 13 months of age - she celebrated her first birthday with that charming gummy baby smile. All the wierder for the fact she was walking at 10 months!

She has wonderful teeth - is 13 years now and never a filling (only slight displacement because she is still sucking her two middle fingers - a whole other story!)

Don't worry - not only did her teeth take a long time but we had none of the terrible teething trouble we had with dd1!

flowerybeanbag · 09/02/2008 18:38

thanks for reassurance all, I won't worry for a while!

DS never had a tooth in his head until he turned 1 even then he had 3 at the front for months then they all came in at once.

Got all the teething out the road.

cinnamontam · 09/02/2008 20:56

My sisters 3 kids all started getting their teeth around the 13-14 month mark so I wouldn't worry a bit

Hobnobfanatic · 09/02/2008 21:18

My DD didn't get her first tooth until 14 months! The dentist was delighted - the later they get them, the longer they last! She was really late getting hair too! Now she has the thickest barnet you can imagine!

Divastrop · 09/02/2008 21:21

my dd2 got her first teeth at 10 months, then they all appeared in one go.

(unlike dd3's which are coming through very slowly, with weeks in between...grrrrr)

karen999 · 09/02/2008 21:23

Hi Flowery. Dd is nearly 1 and still no sign!! Not even symptoms of teething although she can eat a whole apple!! I know what you mean about being concerned though....kids are a constant source of worry (and thankfully wonder too!)

TotalChaos · 09/02/2008 21:31

I didn't get my first teeth till I was 15 months.

shelleylou · 09/02/2008 21:41

Ds was very young when he got his first tooth (4 months) and hes still teething got 8 left to come throgh so if as the posters said if they came later they come through with shorter gaps in between think of it as a bit of a blessing in disguise.

Ineedacleaner · 10/02/2008 08:56

YEp dd was last to get hair out of all the babies born at the same time and has the thickest least "baby hair" of the lot of them.

flowerybeanbag · 10/02/2008 10:22

thanks for more responses all. Am relaxed now

And he eats apple no problem so no fear of him starving in the meantime!

DD did not cut teeth until 15 months.
Dentist told me if no teeth by 18 months bring her in, so never did.
Never had any problems and teeth came thorugh quite quickly once they started.
The later they teethe the less pain I was told...was true for DD.
Don't worry!

ChiefFairyCakeMaker · 10/02/2008 17:34

DS was 15 months too, DD was 8 months - they're all different! The HV said the latest she heard was 14 months. He didn't have any trouble with them though.

jellybelly25 · 10/02/2008 22:13

dd1 also toothless till 1yo!

hana · 10/02/2008 22:15

dd3 had first tooth at 13 months
still only has 2 bottom teeth at 16 months!
