Hi was just wondering if anyone has gone through something similar my daughter is 18 month old crawls but does not stand and does not walk also doesn't hold her own bottle ect basically all she can do is clap her hands and crawl she has been referred to physio, pediatrician, speech therapy and dietician think the health visitor was basically going down the lines of asd?

Another thing I'm worried about and would like to hear other people's stories if gone through a similar thing her right leg clicks when she is laid down and moving her legs and her leg creases are uneven awaiting appointment for this?

Has anyone picked up on the uneven creases and clicking? If not, I'd go to the GP tomorrow. That sounds like it needs checking out.

amber1812 · 12/02/2023 22:18

Yes that's been picked up on by the health visitor she has referred her to the pediatrician

I think I'd chase up the appointment with the Paediatrician.

amber1812 · 13/02/2023 11:20

I have done this I have been told there's a 6 to 8 week waiting list to ring back in 6 weeks if I haven't heard anything from them

Gosh that's so frustrating.

Has she been treated for hip dysplasia? My LG was in the Pavlik harness for 18 weeks.
She is 10 months and not yet crawling.

amber1812 · 16/02/2023 12:46

No she's not been diagnosed with it yet she has been referred to a pediatrician for it

I'm surprised that if it's suspected DDH then she should be referred to the orthopaedics and be having an X-ray there and then so you can get a diagnosis.

Paediatrics will do a referral for orthopaedics/X-ray.

Was she breech?

amber1812 · 16/02/2023 16:11

Yes well health vistor said pediatrician would refer her to orthopaedics for xray ect and no she wasn't breach or anything no problems in birth just was induced a week early as stopped growing I was always going for scans and stuff throughout the pregnancy as they were saying her limbs were short but she was fine when born she was referred to physio to help her weight bare and walk she didn't notice anything as this hadn't been mentioned yet then I moved town and health vistor noticed her leg creases were uneven and I mentioned her right leg clicking I feel like this should of been picked up a lot sooner especially were she's been to physio and stuff and they didn't check anything just told me exercises to do with her to encourage her to stand

Sorry I didn't see you had replied!

That's really frustrating that it hasn't been picked up earlier as the sooner they find it the better- I'd really push on getting the referral ASAP. Not sure if it's worth a call to the paediatrics?

What age did your little one have physio? My little girl isn't weight bearing due to being in the harness for so long.

amber1812 · 21/02/2023 09:19

She was 15 months when had physio she only had 1 session and then I moved area so had to be referred again physio didn't pick up on anything they didn't do much with her just checked if she could weight bare but she said she wasn't worried as she was still young

Hi. We noticed a problem with my daughter not being able to walk at an age that was considered reasonable for her to start, and when she did try she walked on her left tip toes whilst her right foot was flat on the floor. She had an X-ray and her hip was completely dislocated from hip dysplasia. If you have any questions I'm happy to help.

What age did you notice with your daughter and did it cause her pain because it doesn't seem my daughter is in pain and what happened after the xray did she get an operation

She was about 14 months old when she had the X-ray and no she didn't show any signs of pain what so ever. I don't want to scare you but the process after was gruelling. She had to have open reduction surgery where they manipulated her hip back into place from the outside. Then she was in a hip spica cast for 3 months (she was in plaster to keep her legs separate from the chest down both her legs to her feet, with a hole at the groin area in change a nappy. Then she had surgery to put dye into her hip and an X-ray and that showed the prev surgery didn't work. She then needed open reduction surgery where they cut her pelvis and made it more secure around the hip, then she was in another brace this time and immobile for a further 6 weeks. This time it was successful but they warned she may need a hip replacement very early in life. It wasn't a nice process at all, and she was unable to move for 4.5 months of her life. She was a breech baby and nobody told me she needed her hips scanned after birth. I was a first time mum so at the time had no idea either. We are currently in the process of suing. If this was discovered early in life, simpler steps could've been taken to fix the dysplasia whilst her bones were still soft. I'm so sorry you're going through this and I really hope your LO doesn't have hip dysplasia 🙏 x

Sorry to crash this old thread - @amber1812 did you get anywhere with your little one? Do you mind me asking what the outcome was?

@EveryCloudd how is your daughter now? I hope she is on the mend. I’m really worried reading your message as my son is 14 months, been trying to get him seen since 12 months but ‘nhs cutbacks’ - will finally be seen for an initial review at 15 months. Private paeds physio thinks it’s this. It looks like he has one leg shorter than the other, has been late on loads of development stuff and I’m very worried we will go through multiple ops and braces only for him to still have problems.
