Baby behaviour- is this common?

I have an 11 week old and few weeks ago he started chewing his fists. He sometimes also does it (furiously) after feeding so it’s not hunger. Is this a normal developmental thing?

He’s also pulling on his ears sometimes, I think it’s when he’s getting sleepy or at the end of a feed. Is he self-soothing?

Another thing he’s been doing often is turning his head from side to side, (now accompanied with the ear pulling sometimes) when in his cot so much that he now has a bald patch at the back of his head. What can I do about this?

Are these things normal and do they eventually calm down and if so -when? Thank you!

My DD turned her head to soothe when she was tired. I think the bald patch is fairly common, and trust me when I say it will grow back. I bet you've never met any adults switch the same bald patch Wink

All normal (3 dcs here)
They chew their fists because they like something in the mouth. Pulling ears was definitely a sign of sleepiness in my dc. It's particularly good when you're weaning them and they have food in their hand when they do it!
The bald patch they have until they are either rolling or sitting and don't spend so much time on their backs. It grows out pretty quickly once they're not on their back the whole time.

Thank you both very much! Smile

He sometimes actually manages to get his arm out of the swaddle in order to pull his ear 😄 When it first started i thought he had an ear infection!

The bald patch- ah ok, I thought so.. although I saw adverts for silky cot sheets an they were £60 😅

When he first started sucking his fist I was really worried he was hungry!

When do they stop doing these things? I tried giving him a dummy but he doesn't want it as he's breastfed 🤷🏻‍♀️ As long as he's happy...

Sucking hands is pretty normal too. Not a sign of anything really other than they've worked out how to do it Wink
