An tips for a 10 month old who never seems to be hungry

My 10 month old son never seems to be hungry. He never cries for food, so we just feed him every 3 hours but sometimes he doesn't eat. He isn't really keen on his bottle anymore, he will drink about half and then start playing with the bottle. He currently weighs 9kg but I know people with younger babies that are heavier some even about 2kg heavier. Is this normal or could something be wrong with him?

Hi kayzr, my daughter was exactly the same, it lasted until she was around 7! I don't think theres anything wrong, but if your really worried you could ask you health visitor for extra feeding advice.

Have asked hv she just says as long as he is getting 20 fl oz of milk which he doesnt and I've told her. She never says anything else

TBH at 10 months he probably doesn't need feeding every 3 hours. With DS1 at that age he was having meals with us (3 a day) and milk at breakfast, tea time and bed time. As long as he's gaining enough weight and is generally happy I wouln't worry too much

at 10 months ds had 3 milk feeds - morning, mid-afternoon and bedtime - but by 11 months he only had 2 which were the am and pm ones. He had 3 meals along with the milk which were at our mealtimes e.g. 8am, 12pm and 5pm. He had snacks too when we could fit them in but that depended on naptimes.

The 20oz they are supposed to have up to 1 year also includes milk in cereal, in foods, in cooking, other dairy products like cheese, yoghurt, etc so not all of it needs to be as a drink.

How many bottles are you offering? - at 10 months 3 would probably be enough so if you are offering them more often I would cut back a bit. I always offered milk at different times to solids so you could try that too.

He has 2 bottles usually and weetabix for his breakfast. But he never really wants his bottle. He'll eat all his weetabix though. He'll eat yoghurts and pieces of cheese for snack so he is getting milk from there
