Baby jerking head when asleep and breathing fast

Last night my little boy who is 6 months did the strangest thing he was asleep then started breathing really rapidly and jerking his head from the side to the middle then back again it last for about 15 seconds then he stopped it freaked me the f out I'm already majorly paranoid about his breathing - what is this and why? Does anyone else have a head jerker? It was almost like he was hypo ventilating and jerking at the same time like a mini epileptic fit. I am loathed to call the GP again I already had him checked out for a cold yesterday they aren't going to do anything but check his vitals and tell me it's fine.....

Is he trying to self soothe? The breathing might be him starting to wake and I know some babies do the head movement as it makes them dizzy and drop back off to sleep....or teeth.

Call the GP anyways. My DD 6mo I'm super paranoid and made a trip regarding jerky movements, but I was just told that she could have been possibly overstimulated in the day or self soothing as I'd taken some videos to show

Hi @RWI22 thanks for the reply. What sort of jerky movements does your LO make? Does she do the fast breathing thing? I've read about the head movements to sleep but this was different it was almost seizure like the problem is I don't have it on video and GPS just dismiss me!!

She does she starts to breathe fast but before she started to go back to sleep this was when she used to wake up in the night. You would hear the breathing get faster then she would wake up. Now she does the breathing then the head movement and goes back to sleep so thats why I do believe she's self soothed.

I got it on video as I bought a hubble camera that films motion in her cot in the night, due to some other strange activity I kept catching her doing which the HV said was part of her development as they learn to do things in their sleep also.

But I'd honestly as soon as you hear the breathing start do try to get it on video and call the GP anyways x

@RWI22 do you mind me asking what other strange activity she does? Just because mine makes so many strange noises pauses cries whimpers grunts sighs and all sorts it really worries me. He does the fast breathing thing randomly in the night I think it's before he wakes up sometimes it's just during his sleep in general like short bursts / episodes of fast breathing. I just hate all of it and want them to grow out of it soon!
