DD has conjunctivitis. Again. HOW do I get the drops in? She clamps her eyes shut the minute she sees me with them and I'm just not quick enough to creep up on her it would seem! Don't want to start battling with her so some useful MN hints would be much appreciated!

i think its easiest to have her on your lap and head hanging down and make a game of it

oralternatively when she is asleep by pinchingher eyelid and opening it

good luck

is the ointment any good for conjuctivitis because i think it is easier sometimes as it eventually works its way in

sydney are you breastfeeding her still?? Just curious as I have found that works wonders and I would just squeeze some in dds eye as she came in to feed - or express a little and use a paper towel or a clean washer and use it to just put on her eye area.

no hints for drops - dh used to do it - I think he would just lay dd1 on the bed and hold the dropper above her - she would focus on that and he would just squeeze a drop out - pretty good aim.

No, not bf anymore but do have a bf friend so perhaps I could borrow a bit! Trying it when she's asleep is a good idea...

i did express some when feeding dd2 to use with dd1 - she used to get a lot of eye infections

I'll second doing it while she's asleep. Another thing to do, akin to Zippi's suggestion, is to hang them upside down(!), to put drops in the eye. Even if she refuses to open her eyes, keep her tilted down for a couple of minutes and some of the drops will seep in between her eyelids, or she won't be able to resist opening them and the drops then run in anyway. Hth.
