Is my baby just contrary?

I'm hoping someone else has a baby that does this, or can explain the crazy baby logic behind it!

DS, 5 months, is bottle fed. He has mild reflux, controlled with a thickener. We try and feed when he wakes. DS, however, had decided he's not interested in this. He will refuse the bottle on waking, then refuse again when I offer it when he's about to be put down for his next nap. Then, ten minutes after being put down, when he's not settled, I'll offer again and he will take the bottle and happily glug it down. Every time. He's not even feeding to sleep, just suddenly excited about his milk.

What is he up to? Is there too much else to do when he's awake, but sleep is boring so a bottle is a better alternative?

I'm feeding in a darkened room, so minimising distraction as much as possible. He's getting his milk, so I'm not too worried, but I'd love to know I'm not the only one experiencing this...

Maybe he is the only one!

Any other odd ones on the night shift? Random theories accepted to get the thread visible...

Looks like I'm alone. Sigh.

Sounds to me like it could be CMPA. He's hungry but knows the milk will hurt.

Have a read of the symptoms and see if any are familiar Flowers

If there's no indication of pain and CMPA doesn't seem to fit, I would say a bad case of nosy baby/FOMO could also be the cause. Both of mine went through annoying phases of feeding more at night to make up for being incredibly distractible feeding during the day (in fact, DD2 is currently in one, aged 9 months) – somewhat better in a boring setting, but even in a dark room, if they weren't half asleep, they'd play with my hands/clothes/face rather than focus on milk. I can offer solidarity, but no solutions, I'm afraid.

I found that breast compressions can sometimes help with that skkye Wink
