Spinning wheels

Hello,

Does anyone see LO spin EVERYTHING? Any wheel or toy that spins he's obsessed with. He will make a run for other peoples wheels at some groups 😅

Googled it and came up with a red flag for autism?! He doesn't show any other signs of this from what I've read and now curious if this is normal behaviour or not?

Thank you! Sorry if this is a regular question or a silly one!

Our little boy is exactly the same at 19 months. If he is showing no other signs of autism then don’t worry. Look up schemas. This really helped me to understand my boy’s behaviour. It groups how children learn into categories. My son is developing through the “rotation” schema, he’s interested in spinning things, wheels, rolling and most of his play focuses on this as a result. You can try to direct them to other things but often it’s useful to harness their interests. We do activities he enjoys based on the spinning and turning, for example play nuts and bolts, stirring cake mixtures, playing with cars. Eventually he’ll move onto another schema.

Oh thank you for that information, really helpful and will read about how to encourage it with play!

Of course I read through red flags and saw hand flapping!! My little one does this when excited, he's 10.5 months old.. now I'm wondering if should be concerned 😟

Lots of eye contact, social, crawling, standing, cruising etc

Why oh why did I Google!

Lots of babies do that when excited! I think if you look hard enough you will find signs, if you weren’t worried before google then don’t keep searching for the “red flags”.
