My Ds is nearly four, he's just gone back to kindergarten after the summer hols (we are in New Zealand). After scanning the board here it seems he's displaying normal just gone back to school, testosterone, nearly four back chat, cheeky, demanding behaviour. Today I could ignore it no more, so decided to come down on the behaviour by using time out and eventually the threat of refusing his morning blues clues hit. Should I just be ignoring this, give him and inch he takes a mile, behaviour, or should I be discipling it, i.e time out..what is the opinion on withdrawing tv as a form of discipline? Somewhat confused......and a tad stressed

Just because it's normal behavior doesn't mean you should have to put up with it.

Withdrawing tv as a form of discipline works well in my house - and it also works on more than one level as not only does ds have to think about what he's done and be reminded of it when he asks "can I watch telly", but I don't have to put up with the ghastly trash that is children's television .

thanks wannabe, if you think UK, I'm presuming you're in UK here, kids TV is bad, we have Playhouse Disney here, US import, those voices drive me mad!!
I know I doing the right thing pulling in those boundries but today I also felt like I was letting him push my buttons by giving him a bit too much of a reaction, it's a fine line hey!

I think when they go to nursery/school they have to be on their very best behavoiur all day. When they get home, they are tired and need to "react" a little bit. All children need to play up a little bit. I would not put him front of the telly, but take him out for a long walk/play football whatever in the fresh air.

Now he's decided not to sleep, getting up every five minutes, argggg I really am at my wits end today.....it's hot tonight, must buy a fan for his room tomorrow...
