Toddler started saying F*%k - I’m mortified

So I have just returned to work last week, 3 days being away from him for the whole day 8am-7pm. And I’ve come back to my 15 month old toddler saying f^%k. This is something I never say in front of him, so I am absolutely mortified.

i have tried ignoring it the last few days since I’ve had him back in my care again in the hope he forgets it but unsure if I am doing the right thing. He will drop something and go oh no … f%^k … I had wondered if its another word he is getting mixed up with but was out in the shop with his this afternoon, a woman drops something and he goes and says it. So he is using it in context at least.

any tips on how to to stop him? Please help 🙈

You ignore and give no reaction at all, that's exactly the correct thing to do.
In the wider sense you have to work out where he has picked it up from and remind adults to watch their language around him.

Thank you, I think I’m just so shocked he’s suddenly started it. Not surprisingly no one thats been looking after him is admitting to it, but have said to be extra in case he picks any more words up 🙈 thanks for your help!

My LG went through a phase of saying the F word around 3, and I was mortified too! I don't think I knew it existed til i was about 10! I tried hard not to say it around her as I think I'd slipped up a couple of times and that was all it took. Then the phase did pass and now aged 5.5 she knows she must never say it
