Although we have not had a diagnosis yet I suspect my new born is suffering from colic/reflux ? at the very least very bad wind. He also brings up his whole bottle of milk occasionally quite some time after he has had it. It has been suggested that a cranial osteopath might be helpful. Please can you let me know if you have seen a cranial osteopath that you recommend in London or Essex or suggest how I might find a good one. Also can you let me know if you have attended any baby massage classes in these areas? Finally if anyone hs any advice I should be very grateful or if you could point me in the direction of any informative posts/articles on this. in Many thanks.

Osteopaths have to be registered so check out the general osteopathic council for a list of all those close to you. I can't do links but if you type that into google it should be the first that comes up.

Not all of them do cranial so you will have to ring and check, also gives you a chance to see what their charges are and how many treatments they recommend. Its a good idea to set a budget of how much you would like to spend before you start, that way if it doesn't work at least you are not left thinking, just one more go, just one more go.

I took my daugther to a cranial osteopath when she was just two weeks old because she had such chronic reflux. Since birth she has been admitted to hospital on four different occasions.

I did not find that it did any good, in fact, I thought it made the situation worse. Instead, my daugther was prescribed with Enfamil baby formula and also don peridone and ranitidine four times a day to help keep her food down. This did work but it takes time and unfortunately, as frustrating as it is, time is the cure. Now she is six months old and can sit up a bit more and eat some solids (although it is slow and painful) the reflux has almost gone. It is very very difficult at the moment but it does get better (although I'm still waiting for my first full nights sleep!)

My son suffered from reflux. He was feeding every 2 hours. I fed on demand and unfortunately the problem is that about 1 hour after feeding he would start crying again and I would think he was hungry and feed him again, but it was the reflux kicking in and the feeding made him worse. It was worse at night and from about 3am in the morning, I would be up hourly. He was refered to a consultant and given medication which helped enormously and he became a different baby. It was suggested that you keep them sitting up after a feed for at least half an hour, so I used to leave him in his rocker, which seemed to help. Raise the matress at the top end at night, this also helps. I used to hold my thumbs under his armpits which helped to stretch him out and eased his crying.
I tried Cranial Osteopath and am not sure it had a great benefit, but it certainly didn't make it worse and mine was be covered by Bupa, so it is worth checking. Once I started weaning him it did improve almost over night, and I weaned him off the medication so don't despair.

We struggled for several weeks with my daughters wind and reflux. Infacol was useless. I friend of mine who also happens to be a GP advised me to get COLIEF. It costa a wopping £10 for five days worth. It is the enzyme lactase. It breaks down the lactose in the milk which aids babies digestion. It has been a god send. We aslo managed to gt our GP to prescribed baby Gaviscon which has also been amazing...prior to this we felt like we were losing the plot big time. It was a constant feeding, sicking, winding etc. Don't get me wrong she still has wnd but no way as abad as before...Good luck

Try here if you can get to clerkenwell - www.fpo.org.uk
They only treat babies and were great with DS when he had feeding and colic problems. It's a charity so you just pay what you can afford.
