Headbanging 1 year old?!

My little one is 15 months and from around 10 months he started head banging all the time.

Initially is was the odd time, when he was really upset and it would be a light tap against a door or wall for example.

It has progressively got worse and now he constantly has a bruise on the middle of his forehead.

He will, full strength headbutt the floor for the smallest of reasons. Probably at least 5-10 times a day. (Depending on his mood!)

I know a lot of babies bang their heads with frustration as they can't communicate yet but I am worried about it as he really does go for it!
For example we have recently been away and the floor of the villa we stayed at was marble type tiled and he still really went for it! And again left a bruise.

I worry about what damage it might cause!

Anyone had similar with their little ones?

Not sure if you have any answers for this but my 14 month old does the same thing. If I tell her no she will throw herself on the floor and headbutt the floor, chair or anything close by. It has just come from nowhere too she is such a sweet girl but she gets so frustrated so easily.

It's really difficult to watch because she is still crying when you pick her up to console her.

I'm not sure how to stop it.

Hope your OK though x

Mine has recently started doing this at 15 months. Please tell me they grow out of it 🙏

Hello! I forgot about this post! But yes!! Light at the end of the tunnel! Haha
he has turned 2 and it’s a thing of the past!
It did last a good few months, probably over 6 months but eventually went.
I started to almost ignore it. Just put my hand on the floor where he was going to hit and no acknowledging it. Seemed to help it stop sooner! :)
Hope you see it stop soon!

I found if you ignored it they stopped too. I used to go into the kitchen and make a Brew

A DF's DD didn't like how much it hurt so used to grab a cushion, put it on the floor and bang her head on the cushion. It was adorable Wink
