Normal 4yo behaviour?

My child has been a dream until now. He's very nearly 4. No significant changes in his life or my parenting but he's suddenly started tantruming, doesn't listen, occasionally hits me. I'm a lone parent and just don't know how to cope with it or stop him from behaving this way. I'm exhausted by it. Does anyone have any tips or advice?

May I add he isn't like this anywhere near as badly with anyone else other than me and nursery report that he's lovely and has never hit anyone, will listen etc.

Hi, I don't have children this age or older so don't have a first hand experience to share but I would imagine it's very normal as a child gets older to exert and test their boundaries. Probably just be an age thing that he'll more than likely grow out of. Does he go to nursery? My eldest does and alot of her playmates have gone off to school and its had a really negative effect on her behaviour at home. Could anything like that be going on?

Following, my Ds is the same (only with me) all now exaggerated by starting school so he's ok till he's knackered or sees me then it all comes out. Still working on it here reward chart helped a little.

I’m having the same issue. DS will be 4 in a couple of weeks. Always been a dream. Now everything is an argument, I feel like I’m always telling him off, he answers back, will occasionally hit when he is having a tantrum, and will ask me the same thing over and over and over when I have said no. That’s what wears me down the most. I do think it’s an age thing and he’s testing boundaries but my god.. he sucks the life out of me 😣 I feel like I’m a terrible mum because I end up giving in to his demands to get a minutes peace, and I find myself wanting to be alone all the time. Making me resent DH because he doesn’t get as stressed as I do. I can’t imagine doing it alone, sorry I can’t offer advice just wanted to let you know your not alone and your feelings are justified. Here’s to hoping it is just an age thing and it will pass 🤞🏻

Hi ya, no advise I am afraid, would like some myself. My little boy is 4 in December and we are experiencing this too, it’s got worse since he hot
chicken pox, he had it really bad and he still has marks, it’s really had an impact on him as he worries people are looking at his spots. But prior to this he had outbursts and would hit and kick out and shout and scream. I have also had a baby recently, so likely that’s had an impact too, but he was acting like this before baby too o occasion. He also has night terrors too sometimes. It’s exhausting and you question yourself and if it’s ‘normal’. So just to let you know you are not alone x
