Hey,

First time anxious mum here!

My pocket rocket or a girl is tracking on the 2nd centile and weighing 6.6kg. She was born just under 6lbs. She's meeting all her milestones but I'm just so worried about her weight. She looks thin, even though she seems healthy and happy.

Shes never been a fan of milk and has no more than 4oz per feed. Atm she's drinking around 500ml..at a push. I offer her 3 meals, both purees and finger food. She doesn't really eat much either, it ranges from few bites to half a bowl.

I appreciate all babies are different but I can't stop worrying as she's still in 3 to 6 months clothes.

I'd appreciate any advice on bulking her up, or any stories of where their lo went up in weight (am I worrying for no reason) , help on increasing her solids ...or just any help. I feel its all I think about and am missing out on how great she is.

Hi, my DC is a bit younger (7 months) but we also had worries about their weight because they were so small - below the 2nd centile and for a bit below the 0.4 centile. They were under a specialist clinic for a bit.

We had a feeding plan which really helped. It was gruelling - feeding every 2 hours, day and night - but got DC's weight up from below the 0.4 centile to just above the 2nd. Then, DC had a growth spurt with the introduction of solids, and went up to just below the 9th centile. We've just moved up to 6 month old clothes in some brands but still in quite a lot of 3-6 month sizes.

If she's tracking along and meeting her milestones, that might just be her centile. And that's ok - there's always going to be someone who naturally tracks on the lower centiles just like there'll be someone naturally tracking the higher centiles. The main times to worry are if development gets delayed or when a child starts dropping down centiles.
