I want to get some wellies for my friend's baby (being induced today) for when it's older - I'm assuming 2 is the right age to be aiming for bearing in mind the seasons etc???

Oh I have now read the thread. Seems dd2 isn't so outrageously big after all....

Swedes · 21/01/2008 17:14

I am confused about sizes. DD (2.2) is a size 7G in Start-rite shoes but something (bigger) when measured by Clarks.

mawbroon · 21/01/2008 17:28

Hmm, seems that ds has very small feet for his age....

he is 2.3 and is a size 4. I got him size 5 wellies (they were the smallest I could find) and he steps right out of them. I will have to look a bit harder for size 4s I think.

mysterymachine · 21/01/2008 21:23

I must be a boring mum - ds has never had a pair of wellies yet and will be 3 in april. Shoe size though around 7.5 (being measured this week). Must make a mental note to get some wellies though for the puddle jumping fun.

Twiglett · 21/01/2008 21:24

is this another thread, cunningly disguised, to determine how big other 2 year olds feet are?

as I said on the first thread: "odd thread"

babyblue2 · 21/01/2008 21:24

DD2 is 2.10 and is size 8

Pinkchampagne · 21/01/2008 21:31

My DS2 is 5 in March & only a shoe size 8.5. Think he was around a size 6 when he was 2.

bogie · 21/01/2008 21:32

ds has just turned 2 and a 6.5

Ds2 will be 2 next month - he's a size 5. Unlike others on this thread, I've always found wellies too big - he was wearing a pair of size 3s for messing about in the garden until about a month ago!

I'm amazed at all these 2 yr olds with feet bigger than my 4.9 yr old - he's only just size 8!!

suiledonn · 21/01/2008 23:04

My dd is 20 months old and has little feet - barely a size 4. Her cousin is 8 months younger and has bigger feet already. I don't think it is something you can set a standard on.

pucca · 21/01/2008 23:08

Its very hard to judge feet sizes.

My dd who is 4yrs is a size 10 but ds 17mths is a size 7!

TooTicky · 21/01/2008 23:10

Dd2 (2.5) is size 4.5.

PutThatInYourPipeandSmokeIt · 22/01/2008 09:35

oh you are a cynical lot (well 2 or 3 of you!) - this was a genuine question and as I said earlier - my DD was sent some wellies when she was newborn and I thought it was such an inspired pressie. She hasn't grown in to them yet hence my complete ignorance on foot size. The boots are 4.5 and DD is 13 months. It looks like my plan would only work if all seasons are very rainy as then it wouldn't matter what age the LO was when it grew in to them. I can see it is very tricky otherwise and I may need a new plan!

Woops, I get bad mother prize - got it wrong! DD (21 months still ) is 6F. Seems actually to be relatively big now.

LittleB · 22/01/2008 12:31

dd (2.8) is 7.5 but wearing size7 wellies, she has 8's but they are too big. Her first wellies were size4. I would say get ones with wide calves that don't come up too high. She was given some that were narrow and reached her knees when she was 1.7 and they were too tricky for her too walk in. She wears them all year round as we do get rain in the summer too - she has a pair at both grandparents houses too, but we do live in Somerset! Sounds like a fun idea to me.

Desiderata · 22/01/2008 12:45

DS was an 8.5 at the time of his third birthday, and had been for a few months prior to that.

ScoobyDoo · 22/01/2008 12:47

DD is 2 & she is a size 7G

Enid · 22/01/2008 12:49

get some weeny crocs instead

EachPeachPearMum · 22/01/2008 13:18

dd averaged size toddler, 2 in a fortnight, size 5.5. Wellies are usually a bit generous though aren't they?

Northumberlandlass · 24/01/2008 13:02

My DS was 10 months when he needed his first shoes and they were 4 H (almost square). He is now 4 and wears a 12 G !

UniS · 24/01/2008 16:53

BOy has only had one pair of wellys. size 6. hes had tham since he was about 12 months. been wearing them as long as hes been walking, i just used more pairs of socks to make them stay on and in teh early days he occasionally walked out of them.. he now measures as a 51/2 G or H and the size 6 wellys still work fine. Hes nearly 2.
its a nice idea. 6 or 7 sounds resoanlbe size to me.

SnappyLaGore · 24/01/2008 17:01

make sure you get plasticky ones rather than rubbery ones then, as rubber breaks down over time. ive had to chuck some wellies which i had kept from one boy to the next.

my current fave type of wellies for littlun are crocs ones (georgie) coz theyre so light and easy to walk in for them. but you can buy wellies much smaller than that.

i do think its a bit odd to buy wellies for 2 yrs time tho, i have to say! i love wellies too, but there are other cute things you could get... (ignore me tho, my opinion counts not, tis your pres!)
