Sudden severe stutter

DC is almost 3 and over the past few weeks they’ve developed quite a severe stutter. It doesn’t seem to be an excited “I can’t get my words out quick enough” stutter but a m-m-m-m-m-m-mmmmummy p-p-p-p-per-purple type stutter which is pretty much constant, whether tired at the end of the day or right at the start of the day. They’ve also lost the ability to say certain names and will just pick up on the last syllable of the name and sort of slur the beginning of the name. To me it doesn’t seem to fit the pattern of developmental stuttering, but I don’t know how much of me is being PFB and how much I need to worry. It sort of sounds like they're recovering from a head injury or stroke, their whole manner of speaking has changed and slowed down to the point where they’re borderline incoherent and there’s not much flow of chatter from them anymore. Just looking for reassurance from people who’ve been through this that it’s normal and I’m worrying about nothing really!

My eldest went through something very similar ag the beginning of lockdown, she was just shy of turning 3 - it lasted for about a month and then gradually disappeared. I don't know if it was a reaction to her world pretty must stopping overnight or just a coincidence but we spoke with the health visitor who just said keep an eye on it as they often grow out of it and don't rush them or finish words for them.

This is just our situation, maybe be similar but definitely worth getting a professional opinion.
