Newborn painful gas

My nearly 3 week old has just suddenly got the worst gas pains for the last few days, he's scrunching his body and screaming crying periodically from the pains. He's doing big farts, burps and poos (pasty yellow) so it's not constipation or anything. While he's having his feed I can hear his stomach making noises, and sometimes he can't finish his bottle because of the gas pains. Once he's released the gas (lots of it) it still feels like he has some trapped wind. And even after he's released a lot (I'm talking man burps) as soon as he drinks milk it's the same thing all over again. Sometimes he won't burp at all after his feed even after trying for an hour, then in his sleep he'll be in pain.

Ive tried Infacol, fennel seed water, cool boiled water. Is this just a phase or is he just going to be a gassy baby now? He was doing so well the first 2 weeks but now seems uncomfortable all the time. Help??

Following as my little one is the same. He's been like this since birth.
On top of what you've done I've tried Gaia probiotic drops. I don't think anything works. I'm calling GP tomorrow

I don't know if it's gas, wind, colic, reflux, trapped wind.... I know 'all babies cry' but this is suffering not cries.

I also do leg circles massage, keep him upright for 30 mins after feed. Elevated bed and pram. Tummy massages.

This is often how CMPA starts (cows milk protein allergy) so I would look into that. Seems very common, my son (10 months now) has it and it was hard to start with but gets loads easier.

We resorted to using one of the little tubes you pop in their bum. It was like deflating a balloon followed by a huge poo. You can get then on Amazon prime next day delivery. It's not recommended to use them a lot but we keep a box in the changing caddy for emergencies as an absolute last resort after everything else fails (leg circles, tummy massage, tummy time, warm bath, pram and car rides, cooled boiled water etc..)

I didn't realise it 'starts' I thought newborns either have it from birth or not?
I've noticed my 5 week old has been not taking his formula that he usually loves.
