Difficult 1 year old

Is there anyone else dealing with a very difficult 1 year old? My LO is 14 months and she's a complete nightmare. She seems to spend a lot of the day moaning and whining. She is extremely demanding and cannot be left alone for even 1 minute. Every other baby I know (or hear about) does not seem as hard to please as mine does. I feel like I do everything I can to make her happy but I'm getting nowhere. Her sleep is absolutely terrible...she wakes up every 1-2 hours all night. She is also a very picky eater so doesn't really eat at all (although she's growing so she must be getting enough). She is extremely active all day…to the point that she cannot seem to sit still at all, ever. She doesn’t sit still long enough to eat, have a story read to her, play (when others are sitting nicely) I'm really struggling and reaching breaking point. I'm constantly stressed, on edge and totally exhausted. I've read about high needs babies but I thought it would be easier by now 😢 😔

That does sound exhausting OP.

What have you tried for the sleep? Is she in her own room? Do you have a DP/DH who could let you have a lie in?

How is she with her speech and language?

Sounds a lot like my DD! Same with sleep- night weaning helped with that a bit (she was breastfed). Honestly it's tough having a high needs baby, especially if nobody you know has one! Sometimes you explore 100 potential problems your baby might have but in the end I just accepted that this is how she is and I need to adapt. She's almost 2 now and things have gotten better in the last couple of months. She's still sensitive and a bit more high maintenance than her peers but it certainly has gotten easier. Hang in there, you'll look back and be proud of your growth through all this!

Thank you for the replies.
I don’t have a partner so it makes it 10 x harder doing it alone. I feel like I’ve tried everything with her sleep. She is in her own room. I’ve managed to cut down BF a lot so she wasn’t really feeding in the night but some days (like today) she doesn’t eat at all so I know I’ll need to feed her during the night. I’ve tried a bath, massage, reading, white noise, lavender etc. I am open to other suggestions but honestly I think I’ve tried everything shreds. Her speech and language are great. People often comment that she’s very advanced. @MeltdownCentral1 thank you so much for the hope ☺️

If she hadn't eaten in the day, I don't think you really need to top her up in the night. Lots of toddlers prefer to do a bit if reverse cycling as it means they don't have to stop play to eat in the day and they get some nice, comforting feeds with Mum at night.

She's more than capable of doing a few hours at night without a feed, she just might not like the idea.

Have a read of this gentle night weaning method and see if you think it might work for you Wink

@PritiPatelsMaker I really appreciate your help. I’ll have a read of this. Thank you so much 😊
