Baby has such strong reactions... Is this 'normal'?

Dd is 5 months and she seems to have very very strong reactions to discomfort/pain and I'm wondering if it's normal..

If she's tired/hungry/hurt/bored she will go from fine to screaming almost immediately.

Today she knocked herself in the lip with a toy. I'm obviously not going to say that it shouldn't have hurt, but it wasn't particularly hard so I wouldn't have thought it would hurt a lot. And yet she immediately starts screaming, tears rolling down her face, breath sucked in for ages before the huge scream. I picked her up and cuddled her and it took a few minutes for her to calm down enough to feed her a little.

She's absolutely fine now, but it just seems that she reacts so strongly to things. I'm very gentle and responsive to her so it's not like she 'should' feel the need to react excessively in order to be responded to iyswim? It's just a bit stressful and upsetting and I'm wondering if it's normal?? Dd1 was quite a sensitive baby but not to this extent.. thanks for any thoughts

Some just are a bit like this I think and crying really is her main form of communication at this age still.

I know @PritiPatelsMaker I guess I just feel like she shouldn't 'need' to cry so desperately to communicate with me, I'm always quick to respond.
