Question about periods........anyone shed any light on what is going on with dd2?

Can anyone with more experience help me? I have one dd already but we've not had any questions about her!

DD2(11) started her periods totally out of the blue in Dec (round the 1st I think), she was devastated but has got her head round it now I think.

I am a little concerned now, as she has had 3 periods since then; around the end of December which I thought was probably par for the course (although a few days early) but then last night I noticed she was wearing knickers in bed so asked and she said she had started bleeding AGAIN yesterday (quite heavy too). So that means 3 heavy periods since Dec -I've only had one in this time.....

What do you think?

i think that it can take some time for the body to get into a rhythm

you could phone NHS or look NHS online

i would be v. reluctant to take my dd to doctors for
a) embarressment factor
b) incase they want to do an internal - its a bit young for that kind of trauma

Periods can be very much all over the place when you first start.

If you are worried, would she tollerate talking to the GP about it?

I would personally give it another couple of months to see how it settles.

Yes my feelings exactly Custy - I'm not taking her to docs for those reasons plus (to be honest) I think I'm more likely to get better advice from here!

It seems so odd because her sis didn't start until she was nearly 14 and then it was something and nothing for a few months. I didn't start until I was 15 so I always thought she'd be on a similar timescale.

She also gets really bad migraines and is taking Pitozifen - am wondering if it could all be linked somehow or am I just reading too much in.....?

I do remember they can be v. erratic to start with - seem to remember I had lots in short succession.

I also remember being told that I wouldn't get period pain for at least the first year - by the third period I was in agony (doubled over, couldn't walk) - my mother didn't believe me - make sure you have appropriate analgesics available!!

Thank you NJ and Miaow - that's moreorless what I was hoping to hear.

Made me laugh about the pain thing there - I was told the same but by the third of fourth I was in so much pain and so pale I was sent home from school! There are always decent painkillers here, what with migraines and a chronic pain sufferer.

Thanks for your reassurance.
