Showering & Screaming 14mo

The setup in our house has always been one looks after DD whilst the other one showers. We also alternate who gets up in the morning with DD meaning at the weekend we each get a lie in. However with one of us being in bed, we can’t then shower and get ready as DD absolutely screams the place down.

On our mornings i’d quite like to get up, breakfast with her, shower (it takes 4 minutes for goodness sake!!!) get ready and head to the park. Feel like I don’t want to compromise and not shower, I want her to get used to being on her own with us, and us being able to shower.

Weve started to implement this, just getting in the shower and getting on with the day, but the screaming is relentless, also through hair drying and getting dressed - maybe ten minutes all in all? Then seemingly pointlessly the one having a lie in is screamed awake …

Whos children scream whilst they shower - do you just have to ignore it, or does it get better in time?

Or do I just give up, have a light wash at the downstairs sink, chuck some clothes on, my hair in a pony, and wait until someone is available to be with DD before I can shower. Avoiding a screaming fit.

What about TV - does that not distract her for a few minutes? Or bring her in the bathroom with you, give her something to play with whilst she can see you in the shower?

Yeah I’ve tried it all but it’s just scream at the shower screen!
i guess time will tell if she gets accustomed!

Ah I put dd in a bouncer in the bathroom from day 1 when I shower, she's totally fine. Yours will get used to it. You need to interact with her, sing, play peekaboo etc whilst showering.
