Autism in 2-3 year olds

The health visitor finally came out to see my little boy today after me having concerns about his speech development, she said after speaking with nursery they do have concerns about his speech but also his lack of eye contact and social skills. This isn’t something I’ve ever been concerned about because he does make eye contact with me and close family members but not for long periods of time.
He used to hit other children a lot but seems to have stopped that now but still hits/kicks us parents now and again.
I was probably just wondering if anybody else has been in this position and they’ve grew out of it/ come on and caught up. He’s 2 but 3 in august and if he is autistic I’d like to get in some early intervention as quick as possible 🤔

TIA

Our situation was slightly diffrent, the health visitor did our sosn's 30 month review and wasn't concerned about anything. However we had our doubts (you know when you see other children that age) and we approached a S&LT privately who confirmed what we expected and said that he had some behaviour on the spectrum.

From the little I see of autism, the behaviours can come & go will probably always be there. The thing is that early intervention is key, so even if you don't have a diagnosis there is no harm on looking into some therapy.
