Hi,
My 15 month old daughter seems to have lost quite a few skills over the last couple of months and I’m really worried.
She has stopped clapping, waving, blowing kisses, pointing, screaming at row row your boat (did this religiously before) she’s stopped talking (used to say mama, dada, nana, but now nothing). She used to get excited when family members walked in the room but now she’s not interested. She’s quite happy to play by herself and doesn’t seem interested in playing with other kids anymore. She makes limited eye contact (used to make good eye contact)
She still laughs and smiles though. She’s very affectionate with us most of the time and loves cuddles. She plays with her toys and sleeps really well.
She has recently started pulling herself up to standing and cruising along furniture (not walking yet) so people have been telling me that she’s probably using all of her energy on learning that and will pick the rest back up again.
At first I put it down to covid and being shut in (we had to self isolate for a couple of weeks due to us all getting it at different times) as it started happening around the time she was poorly with it. I mentioned it to the HV at her 14 month review, and she said she could have waxy ears after covid (apparently that’s a thing) and to see how she goes and she will check in when she’s 17 months. She’s not improving and I’m worried, so I phoned again a couple of days ago to voice my concerns and I’m still waiting for a call back, so It will be after the bank holiday now.
I have been looking up her symptoms online and I’m now convinced she has regressive autism. All the signs are there.
Has anyone been through Similar with their children and what was the outcome? Did their skills improve again? Sorry for my ignorance,
But this is my first child and I don’t know anything about regressive autism, only what I’ve read and the advice online is all different. I know I may be getting ahead of myself, but she used to be so bubbly and I have a gut feeling something isn’t right. I just want to make sure I help her in any way I can. Thank you so much for reading my long post x

Hi, sorry to bother you but do you have an update? My daughter seems to be going through something similar 😔

Hi My son at 12 months had 2 words (not any meaning attached consistently) but he was saying those a lot. He used to show his belly by pulling his shirt up and reacted so well to us singing songs and at 13 months it completely stopped.

SO by 15 months I was really worried as he had no words and no gestures (he never pointed) - but at 17 months now he has been pointing and saying quite a few words. We have tried to do intense play therapy at home and ST and OT. in these 2 months which have helped.

But no one could answer about the regression question to me though but I do realize my son wasn't doing much at 12 months either. I would suggest if you are in USA please contact your Early Childhood Intervention (for me it was a 2 months wait time).

How are you getting on now op? DS regressed a little earlier than your little one, he's now 12. He is autistic but is doing well. Things are significantly different for us but he's come a long way since the initial regression. I hope you get some answers x
