Reflux help

Was hoping for other mums and dads advice on my 7 week old FF boy. So his symptoms point to reflux, we have been to the GP and she agreed it could be and recommended we tried anti reflux formula. Which has helped somewhat, less spitting up. The main issue is when we are trying to burp him he goes stiff as a board and throws himself backwards. After 30mins he cries and signals the hungry cue which I know he isn't hungry as he finished his bottle. I offer his dummy and he screams. If I dip it in gripe water it soothes him for a minute or so then cries again for food. Which makes me think it's the acid burning his throat and he want to comfort eat. On a few occasions when I've picked him up he's gagged and I've heard his stomach slosh very loudly around even when it's been hours after a feed. Sleeping is horrendous as every 10 minutes he's constantly pulling his legs up and squirming, or waking himself up farting like a trooper. Wondering if anyone has similar experiences.

Hi Star. First of all I'm sorry you're going through this, it's so hard as you just want to take it away from them. My DD is 4 now but she had horrendous reflux / silent reflux when she was a baby. After doing a lot of research (it's essentially heartburn) I asked the doctor to prescribe her ranitidine which helped quite a lot with the screaming and squirming. You can also get baby gaviscon but that didn't seem to help with us. Other things that seemed to help - I rolled up a blanket and put it under her legs when she slept as having her legs up seemed to really help her. I put something under Moses basket or crib so she was tilted upwards when she slept as lying flat made it worse. A white noise machine really helped - you can get white noise on you tube to try first before you buy anything. We used a thickener called carabel which we bought from Amazon, although I don't know if they make it anymore. We had that as she was projectile vomiting as soon as she'd finish a bottle! Our GP and health visitor also said as soon as she hits 16 weeks to start weaning her onto fruit and veg purées which helped then as soon as she was on to solids at 6 months it stopped. Still the odd bit of sick but nothing like before. Advice might be different now with weaning but definitely ask your GP.
I hope some of these suggestions help.. it's such a hard time but just know that you're not alone.. xx

The only thing that works for me was cutting out cow's milk

Thank you for responding, my GP did mention possible cmpa but he hasn't really got other symptoms of that. His bowel movements are a normal yellowy colour, he's not vomiting feeds or refusing feeds. It's bizarre as he can go days with little spit up of milk which is normal and is a happy spitter to suddenly full on acid coming up and upsetting him again but yet we have done nothing different from previous day's. He has a weigh in tomorrow so hopefully as long as the weight gain is good I think it might be a matter of coping untill he out grows it. He is a tiny baby on the 2nd centile line. The rolled up blanket under the legs helps with his fidgeting. It's just so hard seeing them in discomfort.
