7yo zero empathy

How empathetic would you expect a 7yo to be? My daughter is complicated! Her grandad died suddenly on Tuesday morning. Obviously we are all upset. Dd though has barely had a flicker. She keeps asking things like 'why is your face like that' to dh earlier when he was upset. She wouldn't hug her granny when we saw her today. I felt I had to warn her to be nice before we went into the house. She honestly seems more concerned about when she can have a friend to play. This is not the first time I've wondered whether she's totally typical, sorry I don't know the terminology because I don't really know what I mean. I don't know what to look up here.

Hi there,
Sorry to hear. Google alexithymia.
Is there any chance she might have asd or adhd?
Sorry I’m no expert but that’s what sprung to mind.

Interested to hear if other 7yos are more empathetic.

She might not be comfortable with the situation? She might think it's overwhelming that you are all upset?

My 7 y/o boy and girl would have reacted differently but they are both more empathetic than any child I have ever seen and everyone always comments on it. We are working on making them think about their own feelings more than other's feelings...

If my 3rd child who is now a toddler turned out to be like your child I would probably buy some books about how to talk about feelings/expressing anger/guilt/emotions. They have some great books about feelings for that age group!

I would not think adhd or asd at all if that is the only thing you are dealing with Daffodil

Just seen your post, thank you. Books about feelings are good idea.
