***PIC ATTACHED***6 month old sitting with legs straight out not froggy style

Hi all - sorry of this sounds like a strange question but I'm a bit worried about my 6 month old. When she is trying to sit she is always has her legs out in front of her - locked at the knees, not 'froggy style' I.e. bent at the knees slightly. I have never seen a baby sit like this before. When I try to bend her legs she looses her balance and quicklystraightens them again. She does this on the sofa and on the floor (with me sitting behind her giving her some support).

I'm worried as I've read that this is associated with low muscle tone.

Has anyone else's baby sat like this? How did you resolve it? Is it something that needs to be resolved? There's not a lot online about this.

Just freaks me out as I've not seen babies sit like this before.

Pic attached!

Thanks for your time.

I should have said - worried as I've heard its associated with low muscle tone in the trunk.

Thanks

My DS did this as a baby, even when he could sit up independently.

He was late to sit (7-8 months) and walk (19 months) and has definitely been “behind@ with his gross motor skills, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say delayed. The physio said there was nothing “wrong”, he was just weaker than average.

He’s 6 now and can ride a bike, scoot, run etc well. I do think he might be still slightly less coordinated/able than his peers though.

Yes my son did this and I was worried. He’d also just bend forward from the position to crawl and do the splits! It just worked itself out and now at 11 months he sits and goes from sitting to crawling fine x

Thanks so much both! Good to know it can rectify itself and not cause too much of a delay.

Any other experiences from anyone?

Thanks so much for your help .

6 months is still early to be sitting, so she is doing well! Maybe just needs some more time to work on the muscles etc. My son did that and wouldn’t support his feet on the ground etc. but I think he just needed time x

DS1 did this! Wasn't behind on any gross motor milestones other than later on things like jumping and kicking. He has mild hypermobility syndrome but it's benign and not problematic.

Hey, my little girl who is 7 months does this too, is there anything you’d suggest to help it?
Did your bub start sitting more froggy style? X
