Flat head baby

Hi there

I've noticed my 3.5 month old baby has a bit of a flat spot on the back of his head
I'm not sure why this has happened - I make sure to alternate ends of the bassinet and he gets plenty of tummy time!
He seems to have great head and neck control, moves well on his tummy and can turn his head each way.

I don't have a clinic visit for another couple of weeks and I'll mention it then, but I'm wondering about others who may have experience this with their bubs? Did it self correct
Thanks!

Hi OP, yes I’ve had the same experience with my DC ,one day I suddenly noticed her head was far more flat on one side than the other and took her to the health visitor who wasn’t concerned at all but being abit anxious (!) I needed reassurance so I took her to see a peadritrician to check it was ok and was told it’s very common for some children. In time her head totally corrected itself and I’d never know the difference now but when I look at old photos I think wow! .. you just have to make sure you swap sides to feed them , position the cot so they have to turn to look at you but sounds like you know all that .. just watch for a stiff neck as it can be a condition called tortacolis x

You can roll up a small cellular blanket at night and put it along the side of their body- to encourage them to sleep on the side that it is not flatten.

That's a relief thankyou! That sounds really similar to our situation. His flat spot is right at the back. He used to turn his head when sleeping but lately he seems to lay flat on it. So now I wonder if he maybe does have a bit of stiff neck I'll keep an eye out for the signs

Thanks a lot Smile
